Holding the Truth

If we as Christians want to effectively minister the Word of God to people we need to know what the Bible actually says. This is what makes bible study so important. It is not good enough to read the Bible as though it was the latest best selling novel. While there is some value in that, there is greater value in digging deeper into the Word to discover truths that are not immediately apparent.

We must test all things, especially when it comes to Scripture. In Acts 17:11, the Bereans searched the Scriptures to see if the things that Paul and Silas were teaching them were true! This is what Bible study is all about. Are we just going to believe everything we hear or are we going to be diligent in bible study, searching the Scriptures to discover these truths for ourselves?

In this day and age we have such an awesome privilege because of all the resources that are available to assist us in our bible study. Let us learn how to use these tools effectively to enhance our bible study so that we too can rightly divide the Word of truth. And if we teach others to do the same we can help spread the Gospel to the whole world and thus fulfill the Great commission!
