The purpose of the deacon's ministry is to work closely with the pastor, especially in performing baptisms and administering the Lord's Supper. The Deacon Ministry strives to keep unity and peace among members, visit the sick and shut-in, call and visit members to keep them informed of church activities and opportunities. Deacon's Pledge
We pledge ourselves as duly elected deacons of the Baptist Church. Our firm commitment is to work toward the attainment of excellence in the fulfillment of our assigned ministry. We see ourselves as servants of Jesus Christ and lay assistants to the pastor. Our efforts will be for the general welfare and spiritual well being of our respected church families. We promise to never become a hindrance to the pastor or to see ourselves as his superior but we are chosen to pray for him and with him and to be deacons who uphold the pastor's arms.
Duties of the Deacon:
- Minister at baptism and assist with new converts.
- Minister at communion.
- Minister to the poor and needy in the congregation and community.
- Minister to the sick and shut-in.
- Minister to the bereaved.
- Minister at the jail
